Mr. Schlumberger has more than 25 years of experience in commercial litigation, including over four years as a trial attorney in the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice. He has represented clients in areas including antitrust (including Sherman Act, Clayton Act, Robinson-Patman Act, and state antitrust cases), constitutional law (including First Amendment, commerce clause, and due process), construction, deceptive trade practices, defamation, eminent domain, environmental law (including CERCLA, RCRA, and cases turning on state environmental statutes), ERISA, franchises, government contracting and purchasing, intellectual property (including patent, trademark, and copyright infringement), real property, securities, telecommunications law, trusts and truth-in-lending, and common-law contract and tort matters.
Mr. Schlumberger has extensive experience representing clients before state and federal regulatory bodies, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, the Arkansas Public Service Commission, the Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality, the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, the Arkansas Ethics Commission, the Arkansas Highway Commission, the Arkansas Real Estate Commission, and the Arkansas State Board of Architects.
Mr. Schlumberger’s experience includes service as an arbitrator and mediator. He is a member of the arbitration and mediation panels of the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Schlumberger also provides lobbying and governmental relations services. As a member of the Arkansas Bar Association’s Legislation Committee, he has frequent dealings with members of the Arkansas General Assembly and often appears before legislative committees on matters of interest to the Bar.
Mr. Schlumberger is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of business litigation. He has authored several articles appearing in law reviews and the Arkansas Lawyer. He received the Arkansas Bar Association’s Charles L. Carpenter Memorial Award in 2003 and received a Golden Gavel Award. Mr. Schlumberger was licensed in 1979 and is admitted to practice before all Arkansas state and federal courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has practiced in federal district courts and courts of appeals across the country.
